A banner proclaiming the 20-year milestone is now on display at the southern end of Tennent Avenue in Pinole, and the Pinole City Council will recognize FOPCW with a proclamation at their August 17 2021 meeting.
Carol Arnold and the late Dr. Joe Mariotti organized the small volunteer organization in June 2001. By 2004, the group published a Vision Plan detailing actions that have strong local support. FOPCW volunteers contributed to several major restoration projects including the Pinole Creek Demonstration Project in 2010 and the Fish Passage at I-80 in 2016.
FOPCW’s 20th anniversary is a special moment to celebrate accomplishments, to thank FOPCW volunteers and organizational partners, and to look forward to new opportunities for watershed stewardship such as the Pinole Creek Thriving Earth project.
